Craft: Love Pocket

The love pocket partly because it tangibly represents “where I end and she begins.”

Letting go to say goodbye for camp or daycare or preschool, a note or photo in a special pocket reminds your sweetheart of you in your absence.

Especially helpful for dresses or outfits without pockets, this pocket attaches to anything (with safety pins) and holds valuable cargo: a love note that tells a little one that he or she is adored even when away from you.

Ingredients:

Fabric (4 ½” x 8 ½ ”)
Thin ribbon or string (10”)
Safety pins (2)
Felt (2 small circles or hearts, size of a quarter or less)
Card stock for notes
Hole-puncher (plain or creative die-cut)

Sources: fabric or craft store (many craft stores carry small pieces of fabric that are large enough for this project), Michaels, Joann Fabric

How to:

Unless you’re using felt, hem shorter edges of fabric.

Fold down 3 ½ inches, good sides facing each other. Sew up sides and invert the pocket.

Sew end of ribbon to one of the top corners. Leave enough so you can knot on your notes and take them off.

Make love notes approx 2 ½” square. As a flat note or a book with multiple pages.
